The truth about pricing!

It is our job to be completely transparent with our customers. You should know everything there is to know about us before deciding if we are the right dealer for you. Let’s be honest, pricing is one of the most important things to our customers – you want a good, safe vehicle at an affordable price. 

Our buying team has over 50 years experience in the industry and travels outside of New York every week to ensure we have the opportunity to provide you with the best inventory possible. We buy about 90% of our inventory at the auction. The first step in our inventory selection process is in-depth research on hundreds of vehicles on a weekly basis. We focus on purchasing most of our vehicles from out of state. The reason for this is because southern vehicles provide the highest quality used vehicle as they don’t endure harsh winters like northern vehicles. Salt on vehicles is the #1 culprit of rust (inside and outside of the vehicle), and by purchasing out of state, we can avoid buying vehicles that have already rusted.

After our detailed research is complete, we come up with 100-200 potential vehicles that meet our criteria. Our buying team then looks over and scans the vehicles computer system to check for problem codes and pending monitors. We then focus on vehicles with no codes and all monitors set and ready.  In most cases, we end up purchasing about 30-40 of the 100-200 vehicles that meet our quality standards. Carfax reports are ran on every vehicle to verify the clean title history before each purchase. Our company ensures the vehicle has never been labeled as a total loss, there is no structural damage, airbag deployment or odometer roll-back. We are very selective in our buying process. Because we take such a meticulous approach when purchasing our vehicles through the auction, it comes with a multitude of added costs including auction costs and travel costs. As an out-of-state dealer, we pay a premium for our vehicles to ensure we are purchasing the best quality vehicles for our customers. Since we purchase our vehicles through the auction from dealers who took them in on trade, we are the "middle man" buyer in a sense. We pay top price for vehicles we deem are top quality for our customers. The cost on our end certainly doesn't end there. Once those vehicles are purchased at the auction, we are investing on average $1,500+ per vehicle in upfront mechanical and cosmetic repair work to ensure it's in the best condition possible for our customers. 

We want you to know the truth about KBB pricing !

There is a misconception when it comes to Kelly Blue Book pricing. People seem to think that KBB sets vehicle prices. The truth is, KBB is only tracking prices. That means that pricing is dependent upon supply and demand and KBB is following the flow. It can take quite some time for information to get to KBB and be reported in their price listings. There is an algorithm they use based on Autotrader pricing along with deriving sale prices from major weekly auto auctions. You should always look at KBB and any other pricing tools as GUIDES and not the end all be all. The market will always dictate the price. And remember--in the end, it's all about the quality of the vehicle and what's included; not only the quality of the price. Even if the price is above KBB or other guides, but the car is in excellent condition; pay the premium (no matter where you buy)! A quote from a well renowned car expert is really something that should resonate with you: "You can get a good deal on a bad car all day long. The trick is to get a fair deal on a great car. After all, the bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten." - G. Macke 

So why don’t we list the prices of our vehicles on our website or social media sites? 

We often are asked that question and we want you to know the answer. The answer is simple and honest. If we simply list the sales price of a vehicle, people might think the only thing they are buying is price. As you can see from the detail we've outlined above, price isn't loosely set. It's very carefully calculated, and a great deal of time and effort on our end is spent on the pricing process. 

For example, we have a vehicle listed for $9,995 and another local dealer has a similar vehicle listed for $8,995.  At first glance, it looks like the other dealer has the better deal. But don’t be fooled. Make sure you ask yourself these very important questions: 

•    What if the other dealer included a short 6 month limited warranty or no warranty at all, but we included at 24 month/ 24,000 mile limited warranty?  Who really has the better deal? 

•    What if the other dealer only performed a quick oil change and washed the vehicle before going on the lot but our vehicle had $1500+ invested to make sure everything was fixed 100% before the sale?  Who really has the better deal?

•    What if the other dealer charged you for diagnosis? On average, diagnosis fees range from $80-$120 before the work even begins! We offer FREE diagnosis for your vehicle concern(s). Who really has the better deal?

•    What if your vehicle needed to be towed and it cost several hundred dollars? We offer free towing on covered warranty repairs. Who really has the better deal?
With everything that we include, it averages out to be thousands of dollars per vehicle. We sell you more than just the price of a vehicle, and we hope that by reading this, you can understand that a bit more clearly. 

Down payment pricing: 

We also understand that we must offer our customers low down payments. Often times on approved credit, down payments are as low as $500, however, we recommend at a minimum that you have enough money to cover the sales tax and DMV fees. If you already have a vehicle that you are looking to trade in, we will assess the vehicle and determine the highest value we can give you for your trade in.
